Resources for Student Mental Health Concerns
The counseling center at Texas State provides free counseling for individual students, as well as groups for various issues including but not limited to grief, anxiety, addiction, etc.
This is a local resource for victims of domestic and/or sexual abuse. They provide a number of free services to victims of abuse regardless of gender identity or expression. Those services include, but are not limited to, providing shelter for those in immediate danger, helping with legal representation, and providing free counseling for up to 6 months (this can be helpful even if you are not currently in an abusive situation but are suffering from mental health issues as a result of abuse). They also have a 24-hour helpline you can call.
The student health center is a great resource for your medical needs, including psychiatric needs. Even if you do not have insurance, or the student health center does not take your insurance, it only costs $30 for most appointments (for psychiatric appointments, it is $50 for your first visit and $30 for each subsequent one).
